After a long year of rugby, it is time to start thinking about next year. We will be having a coaches meeting on 7/27 at Kilkenny's in Cranford at 7:30 pm.
Before doing so, I wanted to give a short recap of the early summer events.
The Mudturltes have had a busy start to the summer - the younger guys have been playing flag rugby while our older boys and girls have played 7s with many of them helping out with the flag program in different capacities as well. We had a number of our U18 Boys, U16 Boys, and HS Girls representing on the RCT teams and All-State Teams (see below). Because of your hard work, Union was well-represented at the highest level of rugby that NJ has to offer. Our coaches have also been part of this upper tiers: Joe Dabulas, Jason Cunningham & Bill MacLaney.  In addition, our U18 Boys have have finished in the running at a number of 7s tournaments (Dragons Breath - 3rd place & Hells Gate - Bowl Winners). Our U16 boys played extremely well at Dragons Breath and plan to represent at the Rugby NJ Blue & Gold game this Thursday night in Jersey City.
A number of our U18 boys also have been playing on Elite-side 7s teams. This past weekend, Pat Orth, Hunter Musson, Hendrix Vernot, and Ryan Dones played on the NJ Blaze side at Surfside, finishing 4th, while Sean MacLaney played on Turks Head, who won the tournament, beating out the CRC Champions DMV.
Hunter Musson & Sean MacLaney will be playing for Atlantis at the National Invitational 7s tournament in Salt Lake City, UT 8/3 & 8/4, which represents the best high school 7s players in the U.S.A.
In addition, a number of boys & girls have been attending rugby development camps around the country, including Atatvus, Dartmouth, and West Point camps.
