Call for Players for Touch Rugby Demonstration on Saturday, July 25, 2026
All, I am asking anyone who is available, and not going to Saranac, to come out on Saturday, July 25, to help give a touch rugby demonstration to the flag rugby program. For those of you who may not be aware, the Union County Rugby Football Club operates a flag program consisting of over 200 players on five teams across six towns. The players range in age from 4-14, both boys and girls. Every weekend for 7 weeks over the summer, there is a tournament also involving flag programs from Montclair, Bayonne, Jersey Shore, East Brunswick, Bridgewater and Franklin. This weekend is the final tournament being held at Madison Ave Fields in Rahway (1333 Madison Ave, Rahway, NJ). Most of the kids (and their parents) in the program are unaware there are men’s and women’s programs in our organization, nor have they seen rugby played the way it is supposed to be played – fast, organized and dynamic. I want to give them a demonstration of what rugby should look like. The timing is unfortunate due to the overlap with Saranac, so I’m asking anyone who will be in NJ this weekend to please come out and play a short game (approx. 10 minutes) of touch rugby. Ideally, we will put on both a men’s and a women’s game, but if we don’t get enough numbers, we will run a co-ed game. Estimated game start time will be 12:15 pm, (post will be updated midweek). 15s Practice Tuesday Night (July 21, 2026)
Men, There will be a 15s practice on Tuesday Night, beginning at 6:15pm at Unami Park, in preparation for Saranac. Even those not going to Saranac are encouraged to attend. Keep in mind that there will likely be flag rugby practice on the main field. If that is the case, our session will be held on the upper field. Coach Greg
Final Men's Sevens Practice Tonight (7/14/26)
Tonight is the final 7s practice of the season for the men's club. Join us to prepare for the last 7s tournament being held on Saturday, July18 - NJ Sevens in Bridgewater, NJ. Practice begins tonight at 6:15pm at Unami Park, Cranford, NJ.
